Nestled among more than one hundred spectacular lakes, Land O' Lakes holds true to its name. Our beautiful community provides a perfect blend of leisurely, country living with all the convenience and necessities usually found in a metropolitan area. Land O' Lakes is situated in the heart of Pasco County, and home to three major shopping centers complete with supermarkets, national chain stores and numerous service and specialty stores. There are also many dining choices, from fast food chains to fine restaurants.
Land O' Lakes, an unincorporated community, is located north of Tampa on Highway 41, in sub-tropical central Florida. It's a choice suburb of the Tampa Metropolitan area, offering city workers and their families an escape to clean country living. There are several private air fields in the area and the world famous Tampa International Airport is just 25 minutes away. Land O' Lakes is served industrially by the Seaboard Coastline Railroad.
Land O' Lakes is an ideal location for firms engaging in light manufacturing. It's also an area well suited for firms seeking major distribution and warehouse centers. Corporate institutions have found Land O' Lakes to be a favorable location as illustrated by the Saddle Brook Corporate Center, just to the east of Land O' Lakes. Land O' Lakes also has Pasco County government offices, a Pasco County School Board Administration, and fire, emergency and law enforcement agencies.
A plentiful supply of deep well water is available to our 18,000 residents in addition to some county and privately owned water sewer systems. Florida Power Corporation, Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative, and General Telephone Company of Florida provide utilities. Privately owned LP, fuel firms, and sanitation contractors service the area. Fire protection is furnished by the Land O' Lakes Volunteer Fire Department.
Education plays a major role in the quality of life in Land O' Lakes. The area boasts a large modern high school which offers academic and vocational programs on a 100 acre campus with an activity center and lighted athletic park. There are three elementary schools, a modern junior high school, and other private schools as well. Other educational opportunities include the University of South Florida, 15 minutes away; St. Leo College, 16 minutes away; the University of Tampa, 25 minutes away; Pasco-Hernando Community College, located in town; and Hillsborough Community College, 20 minutes away.
Full service health services are available in the Land O' Lakes area. Residents have easy access to large medical complexes, including a Veterans' Administrated Hospital and the medical school at the University of South Florida.
Regional attractions include Busch Gardens, Adventure Island, the Florida Aquarium, and Lowry Park Zoo. Walt Disney World is only a 90 minute drive from Land O' Lakes. Professional sports include The Tampa Bay Buccaneers football team, Tampa Bay Lightning hockey team, Tampa Bay Mutiny Soccer Club, horse and drag racing, and spring training by major league baseball teams.
